School Rules

General

Although what follows seems like a long list of DO’s and DON’TS, in fact much of it is common sense: care for yourself and your property, consideration for others, their property and the school.

In Class

  • Do follow the teacher’s instructions.
  • Do listen to the teacher and to other pupils’ contributions.
  • Do concentrate on your work and do not disturb others.
  • Do not eat or chew.
  • Do be on time for the start of the class.
  • Do not wear coats, jackets or hats in class.

Movement about the School

  • Do keep to the right.
  • Do not run.
  • Do move quietly between classes.

Morning break

  • Do eat and drink only in the canteen area.
  • Do not leave any litter.

Lunch Time

  • Do eat your school meal in the dining area and tidy up when you have finished.
  • Do not go out of the school grounds unless you have brought in a letter from your parents giving reasons and have received permission from the Head of School.

School Property

  • Do look after the school and school property.  Life will be more pleasant for us all if we can keep the school and its surroundings tidy and attractive.
  • Do report any damage to paint work, furniture and fittings.
  • Do put litter in the bins provided.

Personal Property

  • All your personal belongings, schoolbags, sweatshirts, PE kit etc. should be marked with your name.
  • If you can avoid it, do not bring valuables to school.  If you must, deposit them at the office for safekeeping.
  • In PE deposit money, watches etc. with the teaching staff.
  • The school cannot be held responsible for items left unattended in the building.  Make sensible use of the lockers.  If you lose anything, report it to your teacher immediately.

Mobile phones in school

  • Equipment such as personal stereos and mobile phones may be brought into school.
  • However, as they have the potential to disrupt, they must be switched off during class times and can’t be used during break/lunch time.
  • Mobile phones are never permitted in exam rooms.
